DAVE MAGARITY: Do you like the direction of the NABC?

BILL SELF: Dave I believe the NABC has to become a more powerful voice of our coaches. Being unified is very important, but it also must become a respected voice that the NCAA will view as very significant.

MAGARITY: Are we projecting the right message?

SELF: I believe that we're trying. There are integrity issues in every profession, but you only hear negative issues in our sport recently. We must change our image because 95% of all coaches do it the right way.

MAGARITY: Who has had the most influence on you as a coach?

SELF: My father.

MAGARITY: Who is more intimidating, Barry Bonds or Barry Hinson (Southwest Missouri State)?

SELF: (laughing) Barry Hinson, because you never know what he'll say.

MAGARITY: What was the best Halloween costume you had as a kid?

SELF: I always went as a hobo.
